When did I grow up?

Is it when I realized that my parents are not superheroes,

or when I realized that my father could not always protect me,

or my mother cannot always heal me?

Perhaps it is when I know that they are the only ones, who can.

or when I realized that I loved maths because that was the only topic of conversation between me and my father,

or when I realized I did not want to talk about maths and logic anymore because my mother didn’t feel included?

When did I grow up?

Is it when I learned that my parents are normal human beings,

who can commit mistakes,

or when I forgave them?

When did I grow up?

Perhaps it’s when I felt sad about my mother having the same insecurities as me as a teenage girl,

or when I realized that I’d never fully grasp the complexities of my father’s experiences.
