Wagah Border!

“Every corner of the world holds a sunset for you and every sunset, a story!” Wagah Border’s sunset is shared between Hindustan and Pakistan. I along with my mother and sister was waiting for my dad to get our seat while I saw this sunset. It was the breezy evening of Autumn, some people were walking with tricolors on their cheeks, some with flags they purchased from the vendor, all crushing the crispy, dry leaves making the satisfying rustling sound. As we enter the premises, we can see both the flags of Hindustan and Pakistan flowing with the wind, standing tall, decorating the blue sky!
People at 5 pm gather to witness the lowering of the flags ceremony. The ceremony lasts for 45 minutes. There’s a dual feeling while watching the parade, the sense of rivalry mixed with the sense of reunification. This border between the beautiful cities, Amritsar and Lahore marks the history of the biggest partition and migration in the world’s history.
Before the flag-lowering ceremony, BSF(Border Security Force) from India and Pakistan Rangers from Pakistan marches towards the gate by raising their legs as high as possible! Every person, old or young, from either side of the border, is so full of energy and excitement chants their country’s name and slogans (like ‘Vande Mantram’ for India). The overall aura of the place is so alive and full of energy that we feel automatically zestful and patriotic! The complete scene is so majestic and worth witnessing.
